Remodeling Salesperson - Interior Design Focus (Design/Build)


General Role

Responsible for selling Design/Build remodeling projects (kitchens, baths, whole-home updates) that meet client needs and generate profit for the company. Priority is always providing the best possible client service, with a strong emphasis on interior design guidance during the sales process.


Reports To: Sales Manager


Key Accountabilities

  • Reach sales targets - Initial target set at the 1-year anniversary, then annually. (45%)
  • Customer satisfaction - Consistently achieve positive feedback on client surveys. (35%)
  • Lead generation - Contribute new leads via networking and client referrals, tracked by lead source. (20%)

Specific Duties

Sales Duties - Up to Closing of Sale

  • Contact assigned leads within one business day and prequalify (scope, budget, schedule, design readiness).
  • Conduct discovery calls and in-home consultations to understand lifestyle, aesthetic, and functional needs.
  • Explain Woodland's Design/Build Remodel Process and unique value proposition.
  • Verify scope and discuss realistic project budgets anchored to current market pricing.
  • Obtain client authorization to proceed to the Design & Project Development (PD) Agreement.
  • Develop and deliver PD Agreements with support from internal staff.
  • Present PD Agreements, collect payments, and notify the Designer.
  • If a prospect declines, close the lead in CRM with complete notes.

Design Phase

  • Collaborate with the Designer and client throughout concept, layout, and finishes.
  • Translate style preferences into curated selections (cabinetry, surfaces, fixtures, lighting, paint).
  • Partner with the Estimator to prepare Remodeling Agreements.
  • Present final Remodeling Agreement, secure signature, and collect payment.

Sales Duties - After Project Is Sold

  • Product Selections: Ensure smooth handoff to the selections coordinator (if applicable) or manage the handoff yourself per process.
  • Turnover Meeting: Schedule/lead the project transition to Operations.
  • Pre-Construction Meeting: Schedule/lead onsite with client and Project Manager.
  • Project Monitoring: Maintain periodic contact during construction; assist with issues as needed.
  • Project Presentation: Lead the final walkthrough and presentation upon completion.
  • Project Debrief: Participate in the post-project review meeting.

Customer Service

  • Call clients 30-40 days after final payment to confirm satisfaction and address any warranty concerns.
  • Request referrals and testimonials from satisfied clients.

Networking

  • Participate in at least one approved community or business organization to build relationships and generate leads.

Product Knowledge

  • Stay current on products, pricing, new introductions, and trends by reading trade publications and attending shows/markets.

Sales Meetings

  • Attend weekly sales meetings (mandatory except for vacation or illness).

Dress Code

  • Maintain a professional appearance at all times appropriate for client meetings and jobsite visits.

Qualifications

  • 2-5+ years in residential remodeling sales and/or interior design (kitchen & bath strongly preferred).
  • Proven success guiding clients through selections and design decisions that align with budget.
  • Working knowledge of remodeling scopes, timelines, and permitting; ability to set realistic expectations.
  • Comfortable using CRM software; strong documentation and follow-up habits.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and client-service skills.
  • Valid driver's license; reliable transportation for local travel to client homes and showrooms.
  • Nice to have: Experience with design tools (e.g., 2020/Chief Architect/CAD), NKBA coursework, or trade-show participation.

Hours

  • Full-time; minimum 40 hours/week, including sales calls, client prospecting, showroom visits, and project monitoring.
  • Flexibility for evening and occasional weekend appointments.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay: Base + Commission (OTE range: $70k-$115k annually, commensurate with experience and performance).
